
Your Nervous System is Your Friend
When was the last time you talked to a good friend?
You probably looked at their face, felt a ping of adoration for them, and deep inside your endlessly grateful that they exist in your world.
I bet you didn’t think a single mean thought, or wish they were any different than they are.
You didn’t expect them to be any different than they are, and you didn’t wish them any harm.
So why on earth do you think those thoughts about yourself?
You know what thoughts I’m talking about.
“I have ugly eyes.”
“Oh my god my nose is HUGE.”
“I wish I was three sizes smaller.”
“That was SUCH stupid thing to say.”
“I’m an idiot.”
“Im so ugly.”
And the list goes on…
You think these thoughts so often that they’ve become subconscious, to the point that you don’t even recognize you think them.
What if you started treating your mindset – and your nervous system – like it’s a friend?
What if you welcomed the awareness of your thoughts in like you would welcome a friend into your apartment you spent hours making it cozy and welcoming for them to arrive?
What if you took an evening and treated your nervous system (as if it was a friend) to an evening in, made your new friend a home-cooked meal, lit some candles, poured them a glass of wine and said “Let’s chat, I would love to know more about you.”
Do you believe it’s really that simple? I do. I do it all the time.
In fact - this is one of my weekly and monthly rituals. I literally create the space in my home as if I were welcoming a friend.
Why does this work?
→ It sets the space of intentionality
→ It creates safety and presence for your emotions to rise to the surface
→ It’s a way to balance your masculine + feminine energy
→ The more often you do this, the more comfortable with yourself you get, and thus…
→ It becomes easier to create a relationship with yourself that no one can take away from you.
So I encourage you to make this a ritual for yourself and see what comes of it.
Your nervous system really is your friend, and she’s there, ready to create a relationship with you and guide you on your energy.
